Nelly Paredes, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, announced that since Friday, January 6, the payment to the second list of beneficiaries of the Fertiabono. This subsidy seeks to support approximately 36,336 farmers with up to 10 hectares of crops that were affected by the shortage of fertilizers after the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“For this second tranche, we have a budget of S/47 million 144,246,” said the head of Midagri. Likewise, in total there is a budget of S/78 million 675,367, of which S/31 million 531,121 correspond to the amount that continues to be delivered to the first citizens.
Paredes also said that the Government is no longer going to acquire fertilizers, as their costs have started to drop. In addition, an extraordinary bonus is being given to agricultural producers so that they can purchase the fertilizer they need.
It is worth mentioning that, in December 2022, it was detailed that more than 261,714 farmers, out of a total of 287,449, have received the bonus nationwide. This is equivalent to a financial advance of 91.1% in the delivery of the fertilizer subsidy.
“At the moment, we have 261,714 beneficiaries who have already collected. That means that S/383 million 464,156 has already been disbursed. We have a financial advance of 91.1%”, indicated Paredes on December 20 during his participation in the Agrarian Commission of the Congress of the Republic.
He also stressed that farmers who have not yet received the subsidy have until July 2023 to make the withdrawal effective.
