Compared to December last year, there are 4,047 fewer unemployed people in the Basque Country and 416 fewer in Navarra. In Spain there were 2,837,653 unemployed people at the end of the year, the lowest figure since 2007.

The Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) closed 2022 with 110,798 unemployed people, 3.52% less than in 2021, according to data provided today by the Ministry of Labor. In Navarra they have recorded 31,610 unemployed people, 1.30% less than the previous year.
In regards to the monthly variation, from November to December, the number of registered unemployed has increased by 88 people in the BAC. In Navarra, unemployment has risen by 117 people.
However, in relation to closing of 2021 there has been a reduction in unemployed people both in Euskadi (4047) and in Navarra (416).
In year-on-year terms, there are 2,517 fewer unemployed in Biscay (-3.88%), 1116 less in Gipuzkoa (-3.65%) and 414 less in alava (-2.13%). Álava and Bizkaia have also registered monthly decreases in December with 256 and 7 fewer unemployed, respectively. In contrast, in Gipuzkoa, unemployment rose by 351 people (+1.21%).

In Navarre A total of 22,555 contracts were signed in December, and 4,331 of them were permanent. In the last month, contracting fell by 7.74% (1,866 contracts) and compared to December of the previous year, the drop was 22.82% (6,582 contracts).
When one year has elapsed since the entry into force of the labour reform, there are 2.3 million people with a permanent contract in the Spanish State. In Euskadi the increase was 148.3%.
Membership
Basque Country 2022 ended with 14,055 affiliates (1.41%) more to Social Security than a year ago, reaching 994,077 registered. However, affiliation has moderated its growth because in December there were only 822 registered more than in November in the Basque Country, which represents a slight increase of 0.08%.
In annual terms, membership has grown by 4,301 people in Navarre1.45% more than in December 2021, reaching 299,966. In contrast, the number of Social Security affiliates in Navarra fell by 2,319 workers in December, 0.77% less than The last month.
Assessment of the Basque and Navarrese governments
