The mayor of Basauri considers it “unacceptable” to have found out from the press about the temporary halt of the TAV

Asier Iragorri has denounced the “ninguneo” to the Biscayan municipality after learning from the press that they will host a provisional stop of the TAV, “without having any data on its possible impact on the municipality.”

The mayor of Basauri, Asier Iragorri, today called “unacceptable” the fact that he learned from the media of the intention of the Government of Spain to build a provisional High Speed Train-TAV station in this municipality.

In a note, the mayor has trusted that the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, or a member of his ministry, will call him “immediately” to inform him about this project and to call him to a meeting.

The PNV president recalled that, a month ago and given the “rumors” that arose on this issue, he asked the Ministry of Transport for an “urgent” meeting to clarify the arrival of the TAV in this town, although this Department still “has not heard has deigned “to answer this request.

Instead, as he regretted, the Government of Sánchez has announced this Thursday the construction of a temporary TAV station in the Lapatza de Basauri neighborhood, which in his opinion represents “a blank” to the City Council of this municipality, which has said “not willing to allow”.

Regarding the specific project of the construction of a provisional station in this municipality, the mayor has indicated that before evaluating this alternative the Consistory needs to know “details about it”, such as the time in which it will remain operational or if it will cause an increase ” affordable and reasonable “of the number of trains in Basauri.

He has also assured that the City Council will need to clarify the measures proposed by the Ministry so that the quality of life of the neighbors is not “affected” by the new infrastructure.

The mayor has considered “risky and unwise to go further in this assessment” about the construction of a temporary station in Basauri “without having any data on its possible impact on the municipality” and has promised that he will defend the interests of the neighbors “there where it has to be done “.
