The Basque Parliament approved this Thursday the Law that will regulate the Basque Income and Inclusion Guarantee System, which has been supported by the PNV, PSE-EE and Elkarrekin Podemos-IU.

The Basque Parliament has approved this Thursday the Law that will regulate the Basque Income and Inclusion Guarantee System that has been supported by the PNV, PSE-EE and Elkarrekin Podemos-IU and that regulates all the social benefits of the Basque Autonomous Community. But, what are the main novelties of the RGI?:
-The benefit will go from 727.41 euros to 800.13 When it enters into force in April 2023 and in the case of large families with minors, it will rise from 1,086.15 to 1,680.27 euros.
In the case of two adults, the starting point is 934.05 euros, which will be 1,066.84 in April after rising to 1,013.44 in the first month of 2023.
–Improvements for pensioners and recalculation of amounts: The benefit will grow up to 27% in some situations. When the beneficiary is a single pensioner, the RGI will reach 1,013.5 euros in April, starting from the current 834.59, while with units of three pension recipients the amount will go from 1,126.7 euros to 1,440.23 euros.
-The minimum age to receive it passes from 23 to 18 years old.
-The requirement of the three years of registrationis lowered up to a year when there are minors or people with disabilities or dependency.
Seniority on the register disappears for victims of sexist and domestic violence, trafficking and sexual exploitation, and for refugees. Nor will it be a requirement for those affected by terrorism or for Basque communities abroad.
-It also includes news in case of breach of obligations by the beneficiaries with the establishment of a system that generalizes the partial loss of the benefit. Total loss is reserved for the most serious cases.
It incorporates criteria for reconciling work and family life when assessing these breaches and protects minors with the possibility of maintaining the base amount even in cases of withdrawal of the RGI.
-States that the benefit will be recognized indefinitelywhich will be received the month following the request and which will be reviewed quarterly.
-It also establishes a personalized inclusion program and the obligation that Lanbide offer holders at least one job offer or training activity.
