In the following days, four regions in the north of the country would be out of supplies due to the restrictions on the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Kámani compression plant in Cusco. This arises in a scenario of protests and police repression at the national level after the claim of the citizens to call new general elections.
If this fact were to materialize, it would affect 800,000 compatriots, since the natural gas supply systems and rationing systems were declared in emergency with the brake on activities in Kámani.
“The stoppage at the Kámani plant in Cusco, after it was taken over by protesters, causes a restriction in the delivery of natural gas to the Pampa Melchorita plant, generating the suspension of LNG production,” they detailed in a statement.
Thus, the company alleged that, from that plant, this natural resource is supplied to the south and north of the country, for which this event impacts the normal supply and, therefore, “puts the continuity of public service at risk.”
In detail, the families that would be affected are located in the regions of La Libertad, Lambayeque, Áncash and Cajamarca.
