Workers from the residences of Bizkaia have demonstrated this Saturday in Bilbao, summoned by ELA, to claim “the equalization of the ratio of personnel to public residences and decent conditions”. The protest ended before the Provincial Council of Bizkaia with “a loud whistle” to express their “anger” at the “indifference” of the foral institution in the face of “the serious situation” in the centers.
The mobilization has been carried out in the first of the seven days of strike that ELA has called, until next Friday, December 23. For this Sunday, the workers have planned caravans in the different regions of Bizkaia.
As explained by the union, the workers make the Provincial Council co-responsible “for quality service is not guaranteed“, and they denounce that “it bets on the privatization of care and allow companies precarious working and care conditions“.
conflict escalation
