The Economy, Finance and Budgets Committee of the Basque Parliament has approved, with the votes in favor of the Basque Government parties, several partial amendments presented by the opposition to the 2023 budgets. These are amendments to €40 million.
Among the amendments is the one presented by Elkarrekin Podemos-IU to extend transport aid. The purple coalition and the Basque Government parties have voted in favor of an amendment of 12 million euros that includes 50% discounts on transport within the Budget Law. The left-wing coalition proposed an amendment of 72 million euros to extend the discounts throughout the year 2023, but, finally, it has agreed with the PNV and PSE-EE an amendment of 12 million euros that does not contemplate “additional credits”.
The PNV has criticized EH Bildu for not being in that agreement. “Unfortunately, EH Bildu has once again closed the doors to dialogue. They could have obtained 12 million in transport aid, but they did not want to,” said the jeltzale representative, Alaitz Zabala.
The parliamentarian of EH Bildu, Leire Pinedo, has assured that the agreement “does not fully comply with the parliamentary mandate”, and that the ruling parties have wanted to “avoid a roller image” and “make up the final photo” but the reality is that they do not They have had a real will to seek agreements.
With the PP+Cs group, 11.5 million have been agreed to reinforce investments in Osakidetza. Also in the health field, the Commission has approved two amendments presented by EH Bildu, of a million and a half in total, on mental health.
The rest of the amendments are aimed at helping families with sons and daughters, works in the Infant and Primary Education centers, the promotion of rental housing and the hiring of job counselors in Lanbide and Osalan inspectors.
In total, 700 amendments have been tabled in the Committee on Budgets, for an approximate value of almost 1.5 billion euros. Previously, in plenary session, the PNV and PSE-EE had rejected the amendments to the entirety presented by the opposition parties. The Executive and the opposition reproached each other for their lack of will to negotiate, and Minister Azpiazu announced that the government parties would approve several partial amendments worth 30 million euros.
