In an informative note, the management of the plant informs the staff that production will be suspended from December 15 to 22, and that furthermore, work will not be carried out on Saturday the 17th.

The factory that the automotive multinational, Mercedes Benz, has in Vitoria-Gasteiz will stop production for six more days, between December 15 and 22due to “the high stock accumulation existing” in the different markets where their products are sold.
The management of the company has notified the decision by means of an informative note sent to the staff.
Production will be suspended charged to the stock market in the three shifts on December 15, 16, 19, 20, 21 and 22 in the gross assembly, painting and final assembly sectors. In addition, the shifts scheduled for December 17, Saturday, have been cancelled. The company had already planned a cessation of production from December 22 on the occasion of Christmas.
According to union sources, this decrease in the production forecast is a continuation of what was already announced last September, when it was estimated that there would be 146,758 vans instead of the more than 158,000 calculated initially for the whole exercise.
The Álava plant, the largest in the Basque Country with 5,000 workers, already had to stop production on December 2 and 3, although in this case it was due to the impact of the metal strike in Bizkaia.
