Indecopi would sanction Latina for up to S/ 3.2 million for misleading advertising

Through the Commission for the Control of Unfair Competition, indecopi imposed a precautionary measure and ordered that, preventively and immediately, Compañía Latinoamericana de Radiodifusión SA (latin) stop issuing advertisements referring to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in which you affirm that you will broadcast the tournament live and direct, either through a television or your mobile application; or claim to be the only outlet to officially broadcast the matches.

The measure was ruled unanimously as a result of the fact that a large number of consumers have been defrauded by the media, since they have not been able to view many matches live, either because they are not broadcast or because their application does so on a delayed basis. .

Given this, it is necessary to mention that Latina is legally within the term to issue its defenses and/or appeal the precautionary measure before Indecopi’s Specialized Chamber in Defense of Competition, which is the last administrative instance of the public entity.

In the event that the fault in which the open signal channel would have incurred is verified, it would be sanctioned with an amount that could reach up to 700 UIT (tax tax units), equivalent to S / 3,220,000.
