As pointed out by the Minister of Territorial Cohesion of the Government of Navarra, it is a study on the common section to Alsasua, another hydrological one for the Ezkio section and another on operations and degree of saturation that will be carried out by Adif. on operations and degree of saturation.

The Minister of Territorial Cohesion of the Government of Navarra, Bernardo Ciriza, stated this Thursday that the Provincial Government has not yet decided whether to support the connection of the TAV with the Basque “Y” through Vitoria-Gasteiz or through Ezkio, pending different studies that confirm the suitability of the works. Ciriza spoke in this way in response to Geroa Bai’s question to decide on this issue.
“It is important that the studies are realistic,” he said, which is why he has insisted on asking “to go down to the ground and step on the ground” before deciding, even more so with the “experience” of the Almandoz and Belate tunnels on the highway N-121-A, which ended up costing 1,343 million euros more than expected.
Thus, and after verifying the responsibility that he assumes as a director in the face of a decision of this magnitude, he has pointed out the need to have “technical certainties” for this, and has questioned the fact that Geroa Bai, despite holding the Presidency of the Government in the last legislature, did not make this decision.
For this reason, he has indicated to be waiting for three studiesone on the common section to Alsasua, another hydrological for the Ezkio section and another on the functionality of the connection with the Basque Y that will be prepared by Adif on operations and degree of saturation.
The questioner, Pablo Azcona (Geroa Bai) had raised the issue before the “change of position” of the PSN, which in its electoral program defended the connection by Ezkio and is now questioning to bet on Vitoria-Gasteiz, according to what they understand from different manifestations of its leaders “because it is the most profitable option”, but “for Geroa Bai what is cheap in the long run will be expensive for Navarra”, he settled.
Last week Ciriza already warned that the alternative to connect the HST through Ezkio presented a “high degree of uncertainty” that requires the completion of complementary geotechnical and hydrological studies so that the project is carried out “with all guarantees.”
