The works council of EMB Bizkaibus, led by DC. OO.has called a 13-day strike between October and November to demand an agreement with, “at least”, wage increases in line with the CPI.
In a statement, the union has reported that the strikes also intend to denounce the immobility of both the company and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to renew the agreement, EMB SA has 500 workers and it is the concessionaire with the most staff within the Bizkaia Provincial Council’s public road passenger transport service, Bizkaibus, as specified in the note.
The days of strike will start on October 25 and will develop with 2 hour breaks per turn. They will continue on October 27 and on November 3, 8, 10, 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, 25, 28 and 29.
At the moment there are 13 days with strikes, but if there is no progress in the negotiation, the committee will intensify the mobilizations with a indefinite strike.
According to CCOO, the collective agreement of the Bizkaibus concession company ended in 2020 and at that moment contacts could have been initiated for its renewal in January 2021.
The union has assured that at that time it was prioritized, given that it was still in the midst of a pandemic, to ensure the socio-sanitary conditions of the workforce and, in turn, of the users, and wait for the passenger occupancy rates to increase. to pre-pandemic values.
Currently, according to CC. OO., these levels have been recovered, even surpassed, but the company and the Provincial Council “continue to slam the door on the demands of the staff”, and the negotiations “are broken”.
The union has decided not to sit down at the negotiating table “until there is a serious proposal in accordance with the current situation”, adding that the workers “cannot be the pagans of a socio-economic situation for which they are not responsible”.
