A 40-year-old woman was bittenwithout consequences for his life, by a shark in Daytona Beacha town located about 70 kilometers northeast of the city of Orlando, local media reported this Sunday.
The attack came after a man, also in Florida, was injured after being bitten by a six-foot (1.8-meter) long shark on New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County, in central Florida, the same where the woman’s incident occurred.
Volusia authorities detailed that the attacked is a 40-year-old woman from the state of Ohio who was visiting the beaches of Florida.
The woman was bitten on the leg while she was submerged in water up to her waist.around 18:12 GMT this Saturday.
The injuries sustained by the woman were not life-threatening, but she was taken to hospital for treatment.
This weekend’s incident is recorded after the past day 11, in Volusia County, a 24-year-old man who was surfing on a beach in New Smyrna Beach was bitten on the foot by a shark.
The young man, who was not seriously injured and went to a local hospital on his own, said that shortly before being attacked he had seen the shark eat fish from a bait.
According to the International Shark Attack File, an entity linked to the University of Florida, this state is where most shark attacks on humans occur, although experts agree that these are generally extremely rare.
In 2021 there were 28 cases in Florida, which means 38% of the total that occurred that year worldwide, when there were a total of 73 unprovoked cases, of which nine were fatal, and 39 provoked. EFE
