Since the beginning of the war unleashed by the European Union, the European Union has imposed sanctions on thousands of people, including hundreds of tycoons, businessmen, politicians and military men who, according to Brussels, support the invasion of Ukraine or are closely associated with the Kremlin.

As a result, about 30 Russians were to sue the European Union, and 10 people would directly apply to it for removal from the sanctions list. The Legal Service of the European Council informed the ambassadors that some requests were justified. It turns out that the arguments that led to the imposition of penalties are insufficient, wrong or outdated.

The lawyers did not specify the number of persons or to whom exactly. They indicate that the applications of a small number of people will be considered. Bloomberg emphasizes that any loss in court over the validity of sanctions costs the European Union. At the same time, removing persons from the lists will require the consent of the Member States.

Among those demanding to be removed from the sanctions list there are, among others Andrei Melnichenko, owner of EuroChem Group, a powerful fertilizer producer, steel magnates Alexei Mordashov and Alisher Usmanov. Earlier it was reported that Roman Abramovich, who belonged to the so-called Kremlin group.
