The United Nations has confirmed that a first group of about one hundred civilians has already been evacuated from the Mariúpol steelworks, in an operation in which the Red Cross, Russia and Ukraine are collaborating.

The United Nations confirmed this Sunday the operation to evacuate a first group of about 100 civilians at the Azovstal steelworks, in the Ukrainian port city of Mariúpol, an operation in which the Red Cross, Russia and Ukraine are collaborating.
In this way, the evacuated group is on its way to the controlled area by the Ukrainian government.
According to ukrainian fontsin the steel mill Azovstal remain at least 500 civilians and a thousand combatants of the Azov Regiment, which is part of the kyiv armed forces. In addition, in the facilities there are half a thousand woundedbetween civilians and soldiers, without access to medical treatment and with increasingly scarce reserves of water and food.
Hours before, russian media had reported that 40 civilians, including 18 men, 14 women and eight children, had been evacuated from the plant’s territory in three buses, but later Russia has estimated 80 civilians evacuated of the steelworks, and explained that they have all been transported to bezimenneabout 33 kilometers east of the port city, where they have received accommodation, food and medical assistance.
According to these sources, the process has been supervised by the UN and by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
