Russia attacks kyiv with missiles during the visit of Antonio Guterres to the capital

The Ukrainian authorities have denounced this Thursday new Russian attacks on kyiv, coinciding with the trip of the Secretary General of the United NationsAntonio Guterres, who has been visiting the region before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky.

The adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, reported via Telegram that There have been three missiles launched by Russia on kyivbut what one of them had managed to be intercepted by air defense systems.

The attack has had duration of about two hours and one of the projectiles has hit the first floors of a block of inhabited buildings, says the Ukrinform agency.

For now it is unknown if there have been victimsas reported by the State Emergency Service in kyiv.

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Anthony Guterresrecognized this Thursday Volodimir Zelenski, who the UN Security Council “did not do everything in its power” to prevent war in Ukraine.

During his visit, Guterres was able to witness first-hand the destruction in Bucha and Borodianka, and has asked Russia to collaborate in clarifying possible war crimes committed in the area.

Before the visit to kyiv, the UN Secretary General visited Moscow on Tuesday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and, among other things, agree on the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal metallurgical plant, in Mariupol. Thus, Guterres has reported that he has also discussed this matter with Zelensky.

For his part, the Ukrainian president has stated that he is ready to start talks to evacuate civilians and has accused Russia of carrying out bombing in the area. In response to Zelensky’s words, the Kremlin spokesman stressed that civilians can leave freely.
