After the presidential elections, the parties are already setting positions for the legislative elections in June. Following the presidential elections held this past Sunday in France, the main parties have already begun to set their positions ahead of the legislative elections on June 12-19. The left is preparing a common front and Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s France Insumisa has already maintained the first contacts. The National Association of Marine Le Pen, for its part, is considering an alliance with Éric Zemmour.

The Untamed France (LFI, the third most voted option in the recent French presidential elections, has already maintained contacts with the main environmentalist, communist parties or the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA), and is planning a meeting with the Socialist Party on Wednesday, according to sources quoted by the French television BFMTV.Wednesday’s meeting is a first step towards a possible convergence.

Yesterday, Monday, the Compromise movement led by former socialist minister Arnaud Montebourg announced its intention to join the Popular Union of Mélenchon.

The French extreme right, for its part, doubts whether to go to the legislature divided or with a common front that proposes, for example, the unity between the National Group from Marine le Pen and the reconquest of Eric Zemmour.

In the first round of the presidential elections, Le Pen and Zemmour added more than 30% of the votes, while in the second the candidate for the National Group raised the far-right for the first time above 40%, despite being defeated by the current president, Emmanuel Macron.

Zemmour, eliminated in the first round, does not hide his desire to forge alliances on the right, with a view to increasing his chances ahead of said appointment. Marion Marechalniece of Marine Le Pen and supporter of Zemmour, has also advocated a “national union” that opens up even the centre-right French political party, the Republicans.
