The Polisario Front leaderBrahim Ghali, considers it to be “Unfortunate and shameful” the turn of the Government of Spain regarding Western Sahara, after the Executive of Pedro Sánchez announced that supports the Moroccan autonomy plan.
“It’s unfortunate and shameful because it’s illegal and immoral and it’sis a flagrant violation of international lawGhali told Algerian television.
Similarly, he has reproached Spain for having “unilaterally evaded its international obligations as the occupying power of the territory.”
Ghali has highlighted that “Western Sahara is not Moroccan According to International Law and the decision on sovereignty over it, they reside exclusively in the Saharawi people, led by their only legitimate representative, the Polisario Front”.
The Polisario Front leader said “surprised” for the “strange” position of the Spanish Government, although he stressed that for this reason “the legal nature of the conflict does not change nor does it affect the will of the Saharawi people to continue their struggle”.
A territory at war
This same Sunday in its “war report” number 488, the Polisario Front has reported attacks on Moroccan forces in Akwera Ould Abelal, in the Mahbes region, with “losses and casualties” in the Moroccan forces.
Specifically, the Polisario Front militias would have launched projectiles this Saturday against Moroccan troops stationed at the separation wall erected by Morocco in Western Sahara. “The attacks of the Saharawi People’s Liberation Army continue against the strongholds of the Moroccan occupation and have caused significant loss of life and material in the wall of humiliation and shame,” the report highlights.
Morocco raised the separation wall from Western Sahara to prevent incursions by the Polisario Front militias, with which it has been at open war again since November 2020 after the parenthesis of the ceasefire signed in 1991.
