“I felt that the skin hung from my face”: Dogs bite a 22-year-old girl 800 times and disfigure her by leaving her without ears, nose and cheekbones

A young student from Texas, United States, was severely disfigured after she was hired to take care of two dogs and they bit her 800 times.

During a live broadcast for CBS, Jacqueline Durand expressed her anger that the dog’s owners, Dr. Justin Bishop and his wife Ashley, had not been in contact with her since much of her face was ripped off.

The attack on Durand occurred a day before his 22nd birthday. Before going to the house, he was assured that the two dogs, a German shepherd mix, Lucy, and a pit bull mix named Bender, would be in their cages and kennels. reported the Daily Mail.

However, when he arrived, the animals roamed freely in the house. Durand met the dogs in the days before the attack and described the animals as “lovely.”

But as soon as Durand entered the house on December 23, they pounced on her and mutilated her, leaving 800 bite marks. She ripped Durand’s ears, nose, and face off, leaving only bones, for which she lost 30 percent of her body’s blood, and was hospitalized for 60 days.

The dogs were allegedly so violent and bloodthirsty that they took all of Jacqueline’s clothes, including her blue jeans. In the interview with CBS Mornings, she said, “When I felt the skin hanging off my face, I thought I was going to die.”

“It’s time to show who I am now”

During the attack, Durand was unable to call for help, but 911 was alerted because the property’s front door was left open when the dogs lunged at it, setting off an alarm.

When first responders arrived, they were unable to enter the home for 37 minutes because the dogs were so aggressive.

Despite the horrific attacks and multiple reconstructive surgeries she underwent, Durand said she is ready for the world to see her face. “It’s time to show who I am now, and I can’t be afraid of that,” she said.

He feared for the end of his relationship

Jacqueline Durand said she immediately feared her injuries would end her relationship with her boyfriend Nathan, 24, but he immediately promised to stay with her.

Speaking to CBS News reporter David Begnaud in an Instagram Live broadcast, Durand recalled, “I think (the attack) has brought us even closer.”

“I was skeptical if he was going to stay with me. I asked him directly, “Do you still want to be with me? I’ve changed forever,” and he said, “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

I know there is no reason not to believe him, because he tells the truth. Durand revealed that he met Nathan after getting a job at a pet store. Before she quit, he asked for her number on their last shift together.

Their relationship was cemented when she supported him through a cancer diagnosis and successful treatment that ended shortly before she was bitten. “I am very grateful to have the same opportunity to show the same level of love and care that she showed me during that time,” she said. (I)
