The Ukrainian armed forces in the Luhansk region have accused the Russian army of shelling a nursing home from a tank in the town of Kreminna, killing at least 56 people.
“56 people died in Kreminna. On March 11, the Russian occupiers fired from a tank at a nursing home in Kreminna. They did it deliberately and cynically. They just placed their tank in front of the building and started shooting,” he said. Sunday the commander of the Lugansk region (controlled by Ukrainian troops), Serhiy Haidai, on Telegram.
According to Haidai, it is not possible at the moment to get to the scene to rescue the bodies.
The Russians, according to the same source, also kidnapped 15 people who survived the attack and took them to another geriatric center in Svatove, in the territory currently occupied by the attackers.
The Ukrainian ombudsman, Ludmila Denisova, also referred to the events with exactly the same data and described the act as “genocide” and asked to establish a Special Military Court.
“This is another horrible act of genocide: the extermination of the civilian population of Ukraine,” he said on his Telegram account “For every crime of this kind, for every innocent life taken, the leadership of the aggressor state must be held accountable with all the severity of international criminal law,” he added.
According to Denisova, the International Criminal Court must take this fact into account in “the investigation of war crimes by Russian political and military leaders.”
“I call on UN member states to speed up the establishment of the Special Military Court. The criminals must take full responsibility for the atrocities in Ukraine,” he concluded. (I)
