Zelenski suspends the activity of opposition parties and sends a message: “Our lines are full of corpses of Russian soldiers”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyannounced this Saturday the suspension of the activity of ten opposition parties while martial law lasts, given the escalation of the war and the links of some of them with Russia.

“The National Security and Defense Council has decided, given the large-scale war and the links of some political structures with this state (Russia), to suspend any activity of a number of political parties during the period of martial law,” he said. Zelenski explained in a video broadcast at dawn on the official channels of the Ukrainian Government.

Specifically, the parties whose activity has been suspended are ‘Opposition Platform – For Life’, ‘Sharia Party’, ‘Our’, ‘Left Opposition, ‘Union of Left Forces’, ‘State’, ‘Socialist Party Ukrainian Progressive Party’, ‘Ukrainian Socialist Party’, ‘Socialists’ and ‘Vladimir Saldo’s Bloc’.

Zelensky, who belongs to the ‘Servant of the People’ party, has pointed out that the Ministry of Justice has already been instructed to immediately take comprehensive measures to ban the activities of these political parties.

“I want to remind all politicians in any field: the war shows very well the scarcity of personal ambitions of those who try to put their own ambitions, their own party or career above the interests of the state, the interests of the people,” said the Ukrainian president.

The Ukrainian leader has warned that “any activity aimed at breaking away or collaborating” will not succeed” and you will receive “a difficult answer”.

A defense line “filled with corpses of Russian soldiers”

In his speech, Zelensky appealed to Russian public opinion, evoking the images of the 14,000 Russians who have died since Russia began the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

“In the most conflictive points of the fighting, our defense lines are practically full of corpses of Russian soldiers“, Zelenski has assured, warning that these corpses “are not being recovered by anyone”.

Zelensky has argued that those 14,000 deaths belong to “14,000 mothers, 14,000 fathers, wives, children, relatives and friends“, and asked the Russian population if they have not noticed the loss of military relatives in recent years.

In addition to the alleged numbers of Russian casualties offered by the Ukrainian president, the Ukrainian deputy prime minister, Irina Vereshchuk, announced this Saturday that Ukraine has captured 562 Russian prisoners of warsome of whom voluntarily laid down their arms.

For its part, Moscow has so far only confirmed about 500 casualties between their own forces.
