Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba” has warned that the 15-point draft made public on Wednesday “should not be interpreted as accepted by Ukraine” for now.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba has warned that the draft agreement to stop the Russian invasion of his country so far only reflects the demands of Moscow, and has asked Turkey to be one of the countries that act as guarantors of a future pact, along with Germany and the five permanent members of the Security Council of the UN (USA, France, UK, China and Russia).
Kuleba, who met today with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu in Lviv, assured at a press conference that the draft 15-point agreement released yesterday by the daily Financial Times it only reflects the Russian position and that “at this time it should not be interpreted as accepted by Ukraine”.
“We cannot negotiate our security only with Russia, there must be a multilateral guarantee,” Kuleba said.
Cavusoglu, for his part, has said that his hopes for an agreement have grown after his meeting today and the one he had yesterday with the Russian minister, Sergey Lavrov. He has reported, in turn, that the president of his country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has spoken in the last 24 hours with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and with the Ukrainian, VolodÃmir Zelenski and has advanced that Turkey is ready to host a summit of the two presidents when “the ground is ready”.
The Turkish minister has called for a 24-hour ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors under the supervision of the United Nations, the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
