The founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to a duel on Monday to dispute Ukraine, in a message via Twitter.
“I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to a duel. What is at stake is Ukraine”, Musk stated in a brief message in which he interspersed the Cyrillic script.
“Do you accept the confrontation?”, continued the tycoon in another tweet, in which he tagged the official Kremlin account.
Musk’s message provoked an almost immediate response from the director of Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, who has confronted the South African-American businessman on social media on other occasions.
“Little devil, you are still young”, said Dmitry Rogozin, at the head of Roscosmos since 2018, who described Musk as a “weakling”.
Ukraine’s deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, also participated in the cyberfight with a tweet in which he said he was “sure Musk can send Putin to Jupiter.”
Fedorov has been organizing a fundraiser for weeks to “launch Putin to Jupiter”, money that he says will be used to repair damaged infrastructure in Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Musk has been sending terminals of his SpaceX Starlink satellite connection service to try to alleviate internet service interruptions in Ukraine caused by the bombing.
