Vladimir Medinsky, aide to Russian President Vladimir Putinheads the Russian delegation in the talks with Ukraine that have been taking place by videoconference for daysas reported by the Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, and collected by the agency TASS.
“For our part, the delegation is still headed by Medinsky”said the spokesman revealing that both parties to the conflict held several meetings, although the information did not specify new dates.
According to a statement posted on the Kremlin website this Saturday, President “Putin told French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in detail about the recent series of talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives that took place in recent days in video format.”.
After the conversation that the three leaders had by telephone today, sources from the Elysee assured that Putin has no intention of “stopping the war”although they noted a change in tone in the Russian leader’s speech, since he no longer speaks of “denazification” of Ukraine or deposing President Zelensky.
Until then it was unknown that the Russians and Ukrainians were currently negotiating by videoconference, after the three face-to-face rounds held days ago.
As noted TASS, on February 28, the first round of Russian-Ukrainian talks took place in the Gomel regionwhich lasted five hours, while the second round was held on March 3, also in Belarus, and resulted in an agreement on humanitarian corridors for civilians.
The third round was held in the Brest region of Belarus on March 7 and March 10: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba met in person on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey. (I)
