From blitzkrieg to ‘total devastation’: this is how Russia changes its strategy on Ukraine

Russia has had to abandon its strategy of Blitzkrieg in Ukraine, betting now on the ‘total devastation‘. The strategy focuses on the use of inaccurate and very destructive weapons, which is why they become indiscriminate attacks.

Some of the Russian targets have been the children’s hospital in Mariupola block of flats in Chernigov or the town of Irpin. Jesús Núñez, co-director of the Institute for Studies on Conflict and Humanitarian Action, considers these attacks “a violation of international law“.

This has caused the largest exodus since World War II, with humanitarian corridors that are also not being respected by Russian troops. We have already seen this strategy in Chechnya or in war Syria.

Russia failed in its initial attempt to pursue a blitzkrieg, so now they will keep this report of the war, experts say.
