Joe Biden: Let’s make sure Ukraine has the weapons to defend itself from the Russian invader

Russia “will pay a high price if it uses chemical weapons” in Ukrainewarned this Friday the president of the United States, Joe Bidenduring a speech at the White House.

The president refused to discuss with the press any information that US intelligence has on the matter.

The Americans suspect the Russians of spreading “lies” to “accuse others of what they plan to do themselves.”

The West is concerned about the possible use of chemical weapons by Moscow after the invasion of Ukraine launched on February 24.

For its part, Russia accuses Washington and Kiev of managing laboratories to produce biological weapons in Ukraine, something that both capitals deny, and this Friday a meeting of the UN Security Council on this issue was scheduled.

“We are going to make sure that Ukraine has the weapons to defend itself from the Russian invader,” stressed Biden after Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky, in a message relayed by many US lawmakers, deplored Washington’s refusal to allow Kiev to receive Polish warplanes.

In that sense, Biden he argued that the United States had already provided anti-tank weapons and defense systems capable of shooting down planes and helicopters.

Also, he again pointed out that “we are not going to fight a war against Russia in Ukraine.” However, he was blunt in stating that “we already know that (Vladimir) Putin’s war against Ukraine will never be a victory.”

What’s more, Biden he vowed to “welcome Ukrainian refugees” to the United States “with open arms,” without elaborating.
