Pregnant and injured Ukrainian blogger in Mariupol hospital gives birth to a girl

Ukrainian blogger Mariana Vishegirskaya, 26, who became famous by being photographed leaving the bombed-out hospital in the city of Mariupol in an advanced state of pregnancygave birth to a girl on Thursday night, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN Sergiy Kyslytsya reported.

The baby was baptized Veronika and is in good health, Ambassador Kyslytsya told the UN Security Council on Friday.

Although the Council session was devoted to the alleged production of biological weapons in Ukraine, the blogger’s issue was brought up, first, by the Russian ambassador, Vasili Nebenya, who said that in the information war on Ukraine “there has been shown a false image of a Ukrainian blogger” and referred to “two different images” of that person as part of “the dirty campaign” suffered by his country.

In recent days, Russia has tried to deny that this woman, a relatively well-known young woman in her country, was in the hospital and presented it as further evidence of the information war.

The Russian ambassador was answered by his Ukrainian colleague, who showed the first photos of the newborn baby on his tablet. “(Mariana) had a very healthy girl last night, her name is Veronika, here she is with her father,” he told the Council diplomats.

“It doesn’t matter how many lies Russia can tell about her and about this incident. We do not care what Russia says, it does not have the least value, ”Kyslytsya settled. (I)
