Ukraine says Russia launched missiles at Belarus to draw it into war

Ukraine assured this Friday that Russia launched a missile attack from Ukrainian airspace towards Belarusian territory to try to involve Belarus in its offensive against the country presided over by Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry accused Russia of attacking the town of Kopani with missiles from the air of Ukraine to seek an excuse for a response from Belarus, noting that this could happen tonight.

The President of Belarus, Alexandr Lukashenko, a close ally of Vladimir Putin, has repeatedly denied that his country will participate in the offensive against Ukraine or that it has already done so.

Today, the Belarusian Defense Ministry totally denied reports about the missile attack on a Belarusian village near the Ukrainian border, calling it “fake news.”

“The Defense Ministry expressly declares that reports about a missile attack on a Belarusian village are complete nonsense,” Belarusian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Inna Gorbachyova was quoted by state news agency BelTA as saying on Friday.

“As of 6:30 p.m., and in the face of claims by Ukrainian officials and various Telegram channels, neither the airspace surveillance and reconnaissance media, nor the troops of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on duty in these regions have confirmed such information,” the Defense Ministry’s press service said.

“The Ministry of Defense has indicated that the information spread about the attacks on the territory of the Republic of Belarus is another provocation and an attempt to stir up Belarusian society“, said. (I)
