Russia assures that Belarus has managed to restore power supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a few kilometers from the border with Belarus, is currently in the hands of Russian troops.

The Russian authorities have assured this Thursday that the “specialists” sent by Belarus to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which is in the hands of Russian troops in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine, have managed restore power.

This has been confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Yevgeni Grabchak, in statements to the press. “The transmission line between Mozir and Chernobyl has electricity”, he has said in relation to the Belarusian city that is located a few kilometers from the border.

“Thanks to the actions of the personnel who operate the plant right now, it has been possible supply power to nuclear power plant“, he asserted.

Hours earlier, the Ukrainian energy company Ukrenergo assured that “it does not need the help of Belarus to repair the high-voltage line, damaged by Russian artillery attacks and that feeds the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.”

“We need a Stop the fire and that our repair teams, who have been waiting since yesterday for an agreement to start repairs, be allowed to pass,” the company said in a message on its Telegram account.
