Since this March 7, a video of Vladimir Putin has gone viral on social networks, in which he appears at a table with several people around and supposedly, when he passes his hand through a microphone, it disappears.
According to Internet users, the images that are broadcast would be recorded on a chroma key, which is a green background that is used to recreate scenes added digitally.
The truth is that the Russian president has the attention of the whole world by starting the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Vladimir Putin’s viral video is just a mix-up
The curiosity of the netizens reached such a degree that they tried comparing the video with high-quality images and it was confirmed that such an effect does not occur and everything is just a confusion, since the microphone is seen in front of the hand.
One of the images shows a snippet of the video, zoomed in a bit on Putin’s hand as it passes behind the microphone and the object appears to disappear.
The confusion stemmed from the poor quality of the recording. In the same video published on YouTube by the media outlet NBC News, higher quality content is observed and this effect does not occur, being able to appreciate how the hand passes behind the microphone and continues to be seen.
The videos published by other media such as The Telegraph or The Independent also have better quality than the one that circulates and, therefore, you can see in them how the microphone does not disappear at any time.
Debate on Vladimir Putin’s video networks
The journalist Mark Helenowski compared the movement of the video that circulates and the recording that has a higher quality, where it is also seen that the supposed disappearance of the microphone is an effect that only occurs in the first case.
Therefore, the fragments of the clip in which the microphone supposedly disappears, do not show that it is recorded with a chroma key and it is just a confusion.
