The Holy See today reaffirmed Russia his willingness to “do everything” and “put himself at the service” of peace in Ukraineinvaded since February 24 by Moscow military troops, confirmed the director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni.
Bruni explained in a statement that the commitment was transmitted by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, during a telephone call.
“The cardinal conveyed Pope Francis’ deep concern about the war being waged in Ukraine and reaffirmed what the pope said last Sunday at the Angelus. In particular, reiterated its call for an end to the armed attacks”, so that humanitarian corridors are established for civilians” and so that “violence is replaced by dialogue”Bruni stressed.
