An actor before being a politician, the president of Ukraine has mastered the audiovisual language and social networks to make himself heard in Europe and the United States.
Volodymyr ZelenskyPresident of Ukraine, has chosen the social media as one of its main means of communication, especially after the invasion of Russia. In videos recorded by himself, as well as in front of television cameras, the Ukrainian leader presents a personal profile of himself, projects an image of resistance and seeks the empathy of Western public opinion.
On February 24, before Vladimir Putin, his Russian counterpart, announced Russia’s military operation on Ukrainian soil, Zelensky published a video on his social networks at dawn. He said that he had spoken with the Russian president and that the war was about to start.
On February 25, faced with doubts about his whereabouts, Zelensky proved that he was in Kiev, along with his government team, with another video recorded by himself on social networks. “We are here. We are in Kiev. We are defending Ukraine,” he wrote.
He did the same the next day, in front of the presidential palace in the Ukrainian capital, with a message: “Don’t believe in fakes“.

On February 28, he changed the selfies for a solemn image: he signed the official request for entry into the European Union, in the midst of the armed conflict.

On March 1, he once again demonstrated his mastery of communication in a video conference with the European Parliament. He addressed the representatives of community citizens directly in a speech full of symbolism.

The next day, in a Reuters interview, again in military green and, sitting on the ground, once again offered a human face. He took advantage of the occasion to talk about his family, and at the end of the interview, a representative of his government informed him of a bombing by the Russian Army. He did it in English, in front of the cameras of a western agency.

On March 6, he addressed the camera, with English subtitles, to launch one of the requests that he had already transferred to NATO: the closure of Ukrainian airspace, rejected by the Atlantic alliance due to the direct risk of confrontation with Russia. what would it mean
