They have driven four days without rest from Lugo. Six refugees finally got into the car of the Galicians Héctor and Paulo at a border point in Poland. Yesterday Héctor told laSexta how he had decided to head towards the border to help in this terrible war started by the Putin regime.
From Madrid, a girl asked him to look for four women and two children from her family who were crossing the border. She is going to take them to Madrid so they can meet. As soon as they get in the car, they contact Lilia by video call, who is in Madrid, excited.
The message that arrives is one of hope, emotion and gratitude. Héctor himself and his friend Paulo encourage other Spaniards to do the same. “I think it’s worth it, right? If all of us who have three or four days off do this and we spend the weekend… We are in Europe, there is coverage and you can pay in euros. I think it’s a nice way to spend the weekend“, they tell us.
Lilia explains that his family has had to travel more than 300 kilometers. They left the Ukrainian city of Khmenlistsky for the border with Poland. But before crossing, the man who was driving them fought again, so this refugee family crossed on foot and reached the Polish town of Lubyzca, where Héctor has picked them up.
But the journey of these two friends to the rescue does not end here. With two places still free, now they are going to return to another border city to fill them. Thus would end the adventure of Héctor and his friend, who yesterday arrived at the border to offer eight seats and hope to Ukrainian refugees.
