These are some of the many human stories that war brings with it. In the video you can see how several pregnant women, some about to give birth, take refuge in a basement in Kherson, Ukraine. In this shelter they do not have all the necessary means, especially in cases where the delivery may be complicated.
The images They have been shared by a member of the staff of the Kherson Regional Clinical Hospital on the social network Facebook. In addition, they are accompanied by the following text: “Life goes on. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones! Jershon is in the basement, but we don’t give up! Never in my life did I think I would give birth to a baby in such conditions.”
In addition, he explains the situation they have in the shelter: “There are pregnant women in a room (including 2 twins), a woman who needs an operationpremature babies, children of our staff and staff who have not been able to contact their families for days. Two women in labor who are about to give birth. Including two of my children who are 10 years old! I never thought I would teach them about midwifery so soon.”
Refugees in basements
These are not the only images we have seen these days of Ukrainians forced to live in basements. the russian offensive in Kyiv has forced mothers and children with cancer to subsist in the basement of a hospital. These little ones cannot live without their treatments and they are not in a condition to flee from the war either.
