Boris Johnson says Vladimir Putin has committed ‘war crimes’ in Ukraine

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson told Parliament Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has committed war crimes in Ukraine with the type of ammunition used against civilians.

Johnson opined that “the ammunition that (the Putin regime) has already dropped on innocent civilians fully qualifies as a war crime,” in response to a question from Scottish pro-independence MP Ian Blackford.

Blackford asked the Conservative government, unlike its position so far, to recognize the crime of “aggression by a State” in order to one day prosecute Putin and his regime at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague (United States). Low).

The Prime Minister recalled that the ICC Prosecutor’s Office is already investigating possible war crimes in Ukraine and expressed British support.

The Prosecutor’s Office announced on Monday that it has requested to open an investigation into “the invasion of Ukraine and the ruthless attack on the Ukrainian people by Putin.”

Today’s session in the House of Commons was attended by the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Vadym Prystaiko, who received a standing ovation from the deputies. (I)
