Zelenski has denounced war crimes in Kharkov and has requested a no-fly zone. Ukraine has also reported that Russia has begun the assault on the city of Kherson.

A convoy of over 40 kilometers long has been sighted along the highways to the northwest of Kyivabout 30 kilometers from the center of the capital, according to several satellite images published by the US company Maxar Technologies.

Indeed, additional satellite imagery from Maxar has shown that Russia continues to increase the number of military vehicles, air power, and weaponry in Belarus. From the city of Brest, in the east of the country, to Gomel, in the west, according to the US network CNN.

This large military column made up of armored vehicles, tanks, towed artillery and other vehicles, would have left the Antonov Air Base, north of Priborsk, according to the Ukrainian news agency Unian.

Zelensky denounces war crimes

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyha denounced this Monday that Russia has committed war crimes and in particular the “brutal” bombing of the city of Kharkiv during the day on Monday, for which he has requested a no-fly zone for Russian missiles, planes and helicopters, without referring to who or how the no-fly zone should be imposed.

“Today the Russian forces have brutally fired on Kharkov with artillery shells. It is an obvious war crime,” Zelensky said in a televised speech on Monday.

“Kharkov is a peaceful city. There are peaceful residential areas, without military installations. Dozens of witness accounts show that they are not wasted shots but intentional destruction. The Russians knew where they were shooting,” he explained.

As reported by the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov, “nine people have died, 37 have been injured and 87 residential buildings have been damaged by Russian bombing” in recent hours.

The United States has flatly ruled out the possibility of a no-fly, considering it would be a step toward direct conflict between the United States and Russia.

In this regard, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki recalled that “the president has been very clear that he has no intention of sending US troops to fight a war with Russia” and added that the air exclusion “would require the deployment of the US military to enforce what would be a direct conflict, a potentially direct conflict, and potentially a war with Russia, which is something we’re not planning to be a part of,” Psaki added.

troop advance

The Ukrainian and Russian armed forces have suffered losses in Moscow’s attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, in the north-east of the country. The Ukrainian news agency UNIAN has reported that the Ukrainian army in the city of Sumy had destroyed about 100 Russian military vehicles. The Ukrainian web portal Antikor has reported the possibility that there 70 dead (civilians and soldiers) on the Ukrainian side and “a large number” of dead on the Russian side. Russian artillery has hit a military unit in the attack, and bodies are being recovered from the rubble, according to Antikor.

Also in the south, in Mariupol, on the shores of the Black Sea, the State Service for Communications and Information Protection has stated that the city is under the control of the Ukrainian Army, but as a result of the Russian air attack it was practically without electricity.

On the other hand, Ukraine has reported that “the assault on Kherson has begun” and has detailed that Russian troops would be advancing from the airport to the Mykolayiv highway, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

The sirens have sounded again on Monday night in Kiev, while in other parts of the country, such as Volyn, Ternopil and Rivne, in northwestern Ukraine, air attacks continue, according to The Kiev Independent.

In addition, the population has also been warned to go to the shelters in Vinitsa and Bila Tserkva, near Kiev, as reported by this same medium.
