The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, asked the US and NATO to impose a “no-fly zone” in Ukraine to curb Russian bombing, something the West has ruled out for now, US media Axios published on Monday.
In a statement sent to the aforementioned media outlet, Zelenski assured that if the West decrees a no-fly zone over “significant parts” of Ukrainian territory, the country could defeat Russia “with much less blood.”
“Ukraine can defeat the aggressor. We are showing it to the world. But our allies must also do their part”, stressed the Ukrainian president.

But both the US and NATO have ruled out sending troops and fighter jets to Ukrainea country that is not part of the Atlantic Alliance.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday in an interview with MSNBC that the imposition of a no-fly zone in Ukraine “It would mean the US military shooting down Russian planess,” something President Joe Biden “doesn’t want to do.”
