A Ukrainian crew member of a luxury yacht moored in Port Adriano has been arrested after trying to sink the ship to get revenge on his bosswhom he accuses of manufacturing weapons with which his country is being attacked.
In the statement in court, to which laSexta has had accessthe detainee explains that he did it all after seeing on his cell phone the bombing of a building similar to the one where his family lives.
In his story, the 55-year-old man, a member of the crew of that yacht for 10 years, says that during his walk He saw on his cell phone the Russian bombing of a residential building, similar to his family’s in Kiev and that was when he began to think about what he could do.
Returning to the yacht, he then started an act of “economic revenge” to cause “material damage only, not personal injury”. She went down to the engine room and opened a large valve, also another in the compartment where the crew lives. She then shut off the fuel valves and turned off the electricity so “there would be no fuel leak.”
He then states that he warned the rest of the crew, so that no one would be inside, since his intention was to sink the ship. And he told them that he would take full responsibility. His companions rebuked him, left and returned with the police.
When the agents arrived and questioned him, he explained that the owner of the ship is a “criminal who makes money selling weapons that are now killing Ukrainians”.
After being brought to justice, he was released without precautionary measures but investigated for a crime of damage.
The Lady Anastasia is a luxury megayacht of about 7 million euros and is advertised on various specialized portals for this type of vessel.
