The Chef Jose Andres has moved to Medyka, in the border between Ukraine and Poland. Together with his NGO World Central Kitchen, they are feeding people leaving the country due to the Russian invasion.
“People keep arriving. They are cold. Families are cold. They bring with them what they have been able to take, which is usually a suitcase. Children come. All I see is people escaping war“, explains the Asturian chef in the video above the news.
In these images, which he has shared on his social networks and those of the NGO, you can see the hot food delivery stand: “People of the world… Reporting from the Ukraine border! This is one of the places @WCKitchen has hot meals. It’s below freezing tonight and I’m meeting so many refugees, families who are escaping and don’t know what’s next. .. We will do our best not to let you down! #ChefsForUkraine.”
In addition, he explains that they have more aid tents scattered along the border: “People do not stop arriving. About 8,000 will have arrived here alone. We are in Poland, Romania, in different countries and within Ukraine. We are in Ukraine and contacting restaurants . There’s a lot ways to help. We are doing one of them, supporting the border, taking care of the people”.
