Mexican filmmaker Samuel Ríos y Valles was shot dead on Saturday afternoon in the streets of Mexico City after an attempted robbery while driving in his vehiclereported the production company Mastodon, founded by the victim.
“It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the departure of our dear friend, partner and partner in so many stories, Samuel Ríos y Valles,” the producer said in a statement posted on social media.
According to media reports, the filmmaker was killed by two subjects who tried to rob him of his car while he was driving south of the Mexican capital.
Ríos y Valles was shot in the head and although he was taken to the hospital alive, his death was later reported.

“Sam, without a doubt, you leave a gigantic hole in all the people who love you so much and who we had the great fortune to share this life with you”, said the production house in the statement.
He asserted that the world will not be the same “without your friendship, honesty, great personality and talent.”
And he stated that Ríos touched “deeply the lives of many people. We keep your legacy and memories that will last forever”.

Ríos directed the short films “Don’t send me”, in 2012, where in addition to director he also worked as a screenwriter, and “The forgotten details”, in 2014, where he narrates the story of a man who questions whether or not he should forgive his best friend after his death.
In 2021, he released his first feature film, “The days I was not there”, starring Martín Altomaro and Ana Valeria Becerril.
