The Kremlin accused this Saturday, February 26, Ukraine having ruined a truce by refusing to negotiate, on the third day the invasion launched by President Vladimir Putin against the neighboring country.
“In line with the expected negotiations, yesterday afternoon the Russian president ordered to suspend the advance of the main forces” of Moscow’s troops, said executive spokesman Dmitri Peskov. “Because the Ukrainian side rejected negotiations, the Russian forces resumed the advance this afternoon.”
An hour later, Putin called on the Ukrainian army to stage a coup and called the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky and his circle as a “gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis.”
The United States dismissed Russia’s offer as implausible.
When asked about the cascade of sanctions against Russia, Peskov replied that these measures were “foreseeable” and stated that “there are measures to minimize their effect for all sectors of the economy.”
“We are going to have to develop retaliation measures,” he concluded.
