Russia threatens to withhold money from foreigners and companies in the country

Russia will respond to the sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United States holding the funds of foreign persons in the countryas well as that of the foreign companies. This is the threat conveyed by Dmitry Medvedev, vice president of the Russian security council, in statements made by RIA News, which in turn is collected by the Reuters agency.

Similarly, Moscow does not rule out nationalize companies in “unfriendly jurisdictions”which would mean, from his point of view, a “symmetrical” answer to the sanctions they propose to impose on Russia.

In a message on VK, Medvedev has questioned that these “wonderful” sanctions they are “a myth” and “a figure of speech”, adding that “they won’t change anything”. “There is also good news. Sanctions can be an excellent opportunity for a review of all relationships with those states that have imposed them, even to interrupt the dialogue on strategic stability,” it adds.

The head of a central bank within the euro zone confirms to Reuters that the decision to exclude Russia from the SWIFT system will be made in “matter of days“.”It’s enough? There’s no need? Absolutely. Sanctions only make sense if there are costs on both sides, and this will be costly,” says that source.
