Two loud explosions resounded early Friday in the center of Kiev, on the second day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, an AFP journalist confirmed.
“Attacks on Kiev with cruise or ballistic missiles have resumed. I’ve heard two loud explosions.” For his part, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of the Interior, Anton Herashchenko, said in his Telegram account.
The progression of Russian forces raises fears of a multiplication of attacks against strategic and government targets in the capital, including an assault.

The day before, the Antonov military airport in Gostomel, at the gates of Kiev, was the target of an attack by Russian forces arriving in helicopters that clashed with units of the Ukrainian army.
This infrastructure is located just on the northern edge of Kiev and the fighting there was the closest to the capital that occurred on the first day of the attack.
At night, President Volodimir Zelensky had warned of the presence of Russian “sabotage groups” who had entered Kiev and asked his citizens to be vigilant and respect the curfew in force.
Only 24 hours have passed since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine and, according to the United States, Putin is seeking to seize power, leaving Volodimir Zelensky aside.
