Russian troops approach Kiev

Thousands of citizens have spent the night underground, in the subway and in bunkers. The explosions are already heard at the gates of the capital and the Ukrainian government denounces attacks on civilians.

The Russian attack on Ukraine has now entered its second day, with incursions from all sides and even explosions in Kyiv, attributed from the Ministry of the Interior to the anti-aircraft batteries, and the general mobilization decreed by the country’s president, Volodomir Zelenski.

Meanwhile, the European Union and the United States decide on new sanctions against the Russian governmentin order to hit and isolate the Russian economy, energy and trade.

Thousands of people have fled their homes in recent hours, either to leave the country, or to take refuge underground, in subway stations or bunkers.

Meanwhile, abroad, the capital has woken up with explosions on the outskirts. The adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister Anton Guerashenko has attributed these explosions to the fire of the anti-aircraft batteries defending the city. According to the minister, the anti-aircraft defense of Kiev shot down a Russian device, which fell next to a residential building in the city without, for the moment, having reported victims.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has assured that, for the moment, the Russian troops have not entered Kiev, and has denounced that “The enemy attacks not only military installations, as he claims, but also civilians. They kill people and turn peaceful cities into military targets. This is vile and will never be forgiven, “he stressed. In turn, he recalled that” the last time our capital suffered something similar was in 1941, when it was attacked by Nazi Germany.
