At least 700 Ecuadorians are in Ukraine, according to the National Government. And contact has been made with most of them, said President Guillermo Lasso.
“Innocent lives are at stake. We urge the parties to observe International Humanitarian Law and to ensure the safety and needs of civilians. On our side, we are working to provide support to the more than 700 Ecuadorians who are in Ukraine”, he mentioned.
He added that the country condemns Russia’s decision to launch a military operation and the violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Armed aggression violates the principles of the United Nations Charter, and in particular the peaceful settlement of disputes,” he said.

- 1 in Uzhhorod.
- And 30 in other locations.
The towns of Kharkiv, Sumy, Kiev, Bila Terikva, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Mariupol are the closest to the Russian border.
