Ukraine imposes martial law and signs a mandatory enlistment decree to fight against Russian troops

the president of UkraineVolodymyr Zelensky has signed the decree on the general mobilization of all people of age to serve in the Army because of the war that Russia has launched against the country.

The text, published on the page of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reads: “Decree: announce and carry out a general mobilization.” Previously, Zelenski had presented the decree to the Verkhovna Rada or Parliament, as reported by the Legislature itself on its social networks.

The decree establishes that this mobilization be carried out in a maximum term of 90 days and will affect 25 territories of Ukraine.

Hours earlier, the Ukrainian president had announced that the martial law across the country. It supposes a state of exception of the legal norms of the country, the military state is imposed throughout the territory to safeguard public order, and some citizen rights are limited and suppressed.

This rule will be in force from 5:30 a.m. this Thursday, February 24, and will remain active for the next 30 days.

On the other hand, a call has been made to the entire population to take up arms, distributing them among anyone who requests it. “We are giving weapons and we will continue to give weapons to all citizens who want to defend our sovereignty,” Zelensky declared.

All this to be able to face the massive military attack that Russia has launched against Ukraine during the early hours of this Thursday and from all possible flanks: the north, the east and the south.

So far, the President of Ukraine has reported the death of 137 Ukrainians and the figure of 316 wounded citizens.
