The journalist explains that you can see many people “with big suitcases” or that even people he knows “are calling the towns to go with their parents.” In short, people are “trying to leave the city.”

“The ambient feeling changed a lot on monday night“, assures Sicilia. “On Monday, when Putin made a very harsh speech saying that, basically, Ukraine had no historical legitimacy as a country, that this was Russia. I think that night was when people’s moods really changed,” says the journalist in Al Rojo Vivo.

“In these first hours there is a lot of confusion. No one expected a military operation of this scale“, says Sicilia. The journalist assures that he sees people surprised that so many cities have been bombed.

“If the operation had been only in the east, people would have moved towards the border with Poland. But as has happened in so many cities at the same time, people do not know very well if it is safer to stay in a city, safer go to a town,” explains Sicilia.

In Kiev, so far “the electricity works well. The Internet and the water, too.” But there are many supermarkets that have closed: “There are a lot of stores that have closed today. But some are still open”, Sicilia assures, adding that “there are quite a few lines to buy foodbut in principle there is no immediate problem”.
