Joe Biden condemns Russia’s military attack on Ukraine and calls it “catastrophic”

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, condemned the military attack ordered by Vladimir Putin in eastern Ukraine, where a Russian operation with registered bombings has been deployed.

“The world will hold Russia accountable… (will cause) catastrophic loss of life”Biden noted. He also described “unjustified” Russia’s attack on Ukraine, ordered by Vladimir Putin to “defend the separatists in the east of that country”.

“Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its allies and partners will respond in a united and determined manner. The world will hold Russia to account.”Biden said in a brief statement.

He explained that he will follow the situation from the White House overnight and that on Thursday morning he will meet with his G7 counterparts before addressing the Americans to “announce more consequences” against Russia by “this unnecessary act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security”.

“We will also coordinate with our NATO allies to ensure a strong response and unity that will deter any aggression against the Alliance.”added the US president.

“I have made the decision of a military operation”Putin declared in an unexpected television message shortly before 03:00 GMT, denouncing an alleged “genocide” orchestrated by Ukraine in the east of the country.

It should be noted that the CNN network – from Kiev, Ukraine – recorded explosions during a live broadcast. The first images of what happened are being reported on social networks.
