Biden authorizes the sending of more soldiers and military equipment to the Baltic countries

“We have no intention of fighting Russia,” the US president clarified. However, he considers the actions of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to be a “flagrant violation of international law”.

The president of United States, Joe Bidenannounced this Tuesday that it has authorized the sending of US soldiers to the Baltic countries –Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia-, in response to Russia’s moves in Ukraine.

“We have no intention of fighting Russia,” Biden clarified in a speech from the White House after Moscow recognized the independence of the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, in eastern Ukraine, and Putin authorized the sending of troops Russian to donbass.

In addition, the US president has announced the imposition of the first round of economic sanctions against Russia, with the aim of isolating Moscow from the Western financial system.

“This is the beginning of an invasion of Ukraine… So I am going to start imposing sanctions in response,” he said.

Biden has considered that the actions of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, are a “flagrant violation of international law” and demands a firm response from the international community.
