The french government advised this Saturday to its citizens in Ukraine to leave the country given the tension that exists due to the concentration of troops Russian on the border and the resurgence of ceasefire violations in the east of the country.
The Foreign Ministry recommended those in Kharkov and the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, as well as as a precaution in the Dnipro region, to leave “without delay” from those areas.
All French people who do not have a compelling reason to be in Ukraine were also urged to leave the country, advised not to go to the northern and eastern border areas and, in general terms, other nationals were asked to delay any trip to the country. .
The decision taken this Saturday by France succeeds the one decreed in recent days by Spain, Germany or Greece, among other countries.
Today the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, expressed to his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, France’s concern about the escalation of tension in eastern Ukraine and warned him of the consequences of violating the sovereignty of that country.
Despite everything, the head of French diplomacy confirmed that there is still room for dialogue and maintained that his country is willing to work on it.
“But it is up to Russia to bet on that dialogue if it has a sincere will. Today there is a discrepancy between his actions and his words, ”said the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
