Former French model agent Jean-Luc Brunel, charged with rape of minors over 15 years of age and sexual harassment in an open investigation in France for the “Epstein case”, has been found dead in prison, judicial sources reported this Saturday.
The Paris Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to EFE that an investigation has been opened to determine the causes of death. The investigations are in the hands of the Judicial Police.
Brunel was in La Santé prison in Paris and, according to BFM TV, he hanged himself on Friday night.
“His decision has not been guided by guilt, but by a deep feeling of injustice,” his lawyers indicated in statements collected by the newspaper Le Monde.

He was suspected of raping, assaulting and sexually harassing different victims, minors or adults, and also of having been in charge of transporting and lodging young people taken to meetings with Jeffrey Epstein.
The French Prosecutor’s Office opened its preliminary investigation in August 2019 to determine possible ramifications in the country of the so-called “Epstein case”. The American billionaire died that same month while he was in prison awaiting trial for various sexual offences.
Brunel was the founder of several model agencies, such as Karin Models or MC2 Modeland the interrogations of several women in France had placed him as one of those responsible for looking for girls for those parties, although his name was also cited by other testimonies in the United States.

He was released for a few days in November 2021, but by decision of the investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal, he returned to prison.
