Former modeling agent linked to Jeffrey Epstein found dead in prison

Former French model agent Jean-Luc Brunel, charged with rape of minors over 15 years of age and sexual harassment in an open investigation in France for the “Epstein case”, has been found dead in prison, judicial sources reported this Saturday.

The Paris Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to EFE that an investigation has been opened to determine the causes of death. The investigations are in the hands of the Judicial Police.

Brunel was in La Santé prison in Paris and, according to BFM TV, he hanged himself on Friday night.

“His decision has not been guided by guilt, but by a deep feeling of injustice,” his lawyers indicated in statements collected by the newspaper Le Monde.

This was the last days of Jeffrey Epstein, nothing suggested depression or regret

Mathias Chichportich, Marianne Abgrall and Christophe Ingrain pointed out that “his anguish was that of a man crushed by a media-judicial system that it would be time to question. Jean-Luc Brunel did not stop claiming his innocence. He multiplied his efforts to prove it ”, they highlighted.

He was suspected of raping, assaulting and sexually harassing different victims, minors or adults, and also of having been in charge of transporting and lodging young people taken to meetings with Jeffrey Epstein.

The French Prosecutor’s Office opened its preliminary investigation in August 2019 to determine possible ramifications in the country of the so-called “Epstein case”. The American billionaire died that same month while he was in prison awaiting trial for various sexual offences.

Brunel was the founder of several model agencies, such as Karin Models or MC2 Modeland the interrogations of several women in France had placed him as one of those responsible for looking for girls for those parties, although his name was also cited by other testimonies in the United States.

The American Virginia Giuffre, who claimed to have been Epstein’s “sexual slave” and denounced Prince Andrew of England for sexual abuse, with whom she reached an out-of-court settlement on February 15, had also said that she was forced to sleep numerous times with brunell.

The 76-year-old former agent was arrested in December 2020 at the Parisian Charles de Gaulle airport when he was about to take a flight to Senegal. and was presented two days later before the investigating judge.

He was released for a few days in November 2021, but by decision of the investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal, he returned to prison.

England’s Prince Andrew ‘doesn’t remember’ his accuser in the Epstein case

His death, according to local media, closes the case in France, unless other people were involved.

“We will not get an answer about certain things,” Anne-Claire Le Jeune, a lawyer for the civil party, lamented in the media, and according to whom this outcome is “terrible for the victims”, due to the courage they had to show to speak up and be questioned by the police and the judges, without justice being done now.
